This is due to fewer workers are being relied upon to fund rising government expenses such as health care, which can become more expensive to deliver as the share of elderly Canadians continue to rise.

Mendicino said a major part of the solution is to welcome immigrants.

Today, around 80 percent of Canada’s population growth will be coming from Immigration and estimates suggest that the numbers will reach 100 percent by the year 2030 and above.

This is one of the main reasons why Canada is looking to welcome over one million immigrants over the next 3 years.
