Economic Recovery: Canada Created Nearly 1 Million New Jobs In June

creating new jobs.
In the month of June 2020, nearly 1 million
new jobs were created.
Many Canadians and permanent residents
returned to work for their previous employers.
Some of them started at their new jobs.
Between the months of February and April
2020 this year, a total of 3 million people lost their jobs due to the
coronavirus lockdown.
Another 2.5 million were absent from work
due to coronavirus-related reasons.
According to a report that was published on
Friday, 290,000 people returned to work in the month of May.
In the month of June 2020, employment
increased by a record of 953,000 people.
In the last 2 months, the labour market of
Canada recovered by a staggering 40 percent as over 1.24 million people gained
employment.
The overall unemployment rate of Canada
dropped from 13.7 percent in May to 12.3 percent in June.
In addition to that, the labour force
participation increased substantially over the last 2 months. It reportedly got
up to 63.8 percent in the month of June.
In February this year (before the COVID-19
restrictions), the numbers were at 65.5 percent.
The labour force participation rate is the
percentage of Canada’s population that is aged 15 years old and older, who are
taking part in the labour force.
