Again! US-Canada Border Closure Extended Until October 21

 The US-Canada border will stay closed until October 21, 2020.

Canada announced that its southern border will remain closed at least until October 21, 2020. The news was announced as an effort to stop the spread of the coronavirus in the country.

Bill Blair, the Minister of Public Safety, tweeted that the border between the 2 countries will remain closed for non-essential travel.

Truckers are allowed to enter and come out of the 2 countries.

Citizens of the United States of America are allowed to travel to Canada only for essential reasons.



Canadian citizens and permanent residents in the United States of America, and their immediate family members are allowed to cross the border.

Immediate family members include:

1.       Spouses

2.       Common law partners

3.       Children

4.       Parents

5.       Step-parents

Non-essential travel to Canada, which includes for tourism, shopping and entertainment are still prohibited.

This is currently the sixth extension to the border between the 2 major countries.
