Canada Is Now Opening Its Borders To International Students That Are Going To COVID-Ready Institutions

International Students will be allowed to travel to Canada starting on October 20, 2020, only if their institution is coronavirus-ready and has been approved by the territorial or provincial health authority, said a latest statement by the government of Canada.

Designated Learning Institutions are expected to send the specifics of their readiness plan to the provincial or territorial government.

The plans should be including on how the institutes will be informing their students on health and travel needs before their arrival, help with plans for the quarantine, and how they will be offering guidance or assistance in getting groceries and medicine during quarantine.

The plans should establish health and safety protocols in case students test positive for the coronavirus.

IRCC Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada, will be releasing their list of approved Designated Learning Institutions on their official website in the upcoming days.

International students and family members that will be accompanying them to Canada will be required to follow health measures upon arrival in Canada.

This includes mandatory 14-day quarantine period to avoid transmissions of the coronavirus.
