Canada Welcomed 11,315 New Permanent Residents In August 2020

The coronavirus pandemic is the one to blame for this shortcoming this year.

The pandemic has caused the country of Canada to place strict coronavirus lockdown measures to help prevent further spread of the disease.

Before the coronavirus pandemic, the government of Canada wanted to bring in over 341,000 new immigrants in the year.

From the months of January and August 2020, Canada welcomed 128,400 immigrants only, and there are only 3 months left for 2020 to end.

To bring the numbers higher, Canada announced that they will be allowing re-opening the PGP (Parents and Grandparents Program).

Not only that, students and their companions to Canada will be allowed to enter the country too from this month and forward.

Later this month, Canada will be announced their immigration levels plan for the years of 2021, 2022, and 2023.

The data that the country released this month did not shed any light on where the immigrants were coming from.
