Omicron: Canada Adds More CountriesTo Travel Ban List

The government of Canada has announced that they are adding a number of countries to their current ban list due to concerns over the Omicron variant.

Canada added 3 countries to their already list of 7 on November 30, 2021.

As of now, the 10 affected countries are:

  • Botswana

  • Egypt

  • Eswatini

  • Lesotho

  • Malawi

  • Mozambique

  • Namibia

  • Nigeria

  • South Africa

  • Zimbabwe

Not only people from those countries, but foreign nationals who have traveled to these countries for the last 14 days are also not allowed to enter Canada.

This applies to Study Visa In Canada applicants too.

Canadian citizens and permanent residents that have been in any of these countries in the last 14 days will need to receive a negative PCR test in a third country before they are allowed to come back to Canada.

The new rules apply to everyone, including those that are fully vaccinated.

Upon arrival to Canada, all Canadians who have been to these countries will have to complete a coronavirus test.

Everyone would have to quarantine for 14 days and would have to complete a test on day 8.

Those that are arriving by air, they will need to stay in a designated quarantine facility until their test results get back.

As soon as they test negative, they will be allowed to leave.
